30 Sep Croydon’s mettle shines at Business Resilience Awards
The Croydon Business Resilience Awards were held virtually on 23 September for the first time, in celebration of the local businesses that have adapted and innovated to ensure their survival throughout the pandemic.
Formerly the Croydon Business Excellence Awards, this year’s event showcased south London’s fastest-growing borough as an example of dedication, ambition and community spirit.
110 entries were submitted for 65 local businesses, and an incredible 12,700 public votes were cast for the evening’s winners, highlighting the overwhelming support for those businesses that defied the odds in delivering for customers during challenging times.
The event was hosted by award-winning broadcaster Fayon Dixon.
Katharine Glass, Managing Director of White Label, said: “Croydon is a special place. It got under my skin more than 35 years ago when I first came to work here, and during that period there have been some difficult times, but when the going gets tough in Croydon, its amazing community spirit comes to the fore and rallies support.
“Never has this been more evident than in the past year, and we’ve been touched by the stories of kindness, commitment and compassion submitted by businesses entering the awards programme. It has been truly inspiring to hear about businesses supporting other businesses and their communities throughout the pandemic, proving that we are stronger when we work together.”
