24 Mar Croydon Awards launch brings businesses together
The launch event for this year’s Croydon Business Excellence Awards was held on 23 March, bringing local businesses together to look ahead to celebrate each other and what the borough has to offer.
The event kicked off with a drinks reception and fun and games provided by Clownfish, including Scalextric racing and Batak Pro. The competition heated up as local business owners and stakeholders took to the tracks and tapped the lights to get their name on the leader board.
We also heard speeches from previous award winners Gillian Reeves at Yoga Hub, David Barker from Rawlings Opticians, Adrian Thompson from DTT Removals, and Tyrell Davies-Douglan, who all shared what winning meant to them and their business.
“Winning the award was so important”, said Gillian Reeves. “My turnover is up, my profits are up, but more than that, the Croydon Award fostered a bigger sense of community.”
“I won the Young Achiever award last year”, added Tyrell Davies-Douglan. “It was a positive reinforcement for me because it meant the work I was doing in my community was being identified. This has been an accolade for me, it showcases what’s possible when you put your mind to it.”
The Croydon Business Excellence Awards returns live and in-person this autumn for an event celebrating the best in the borough.
