Last chance to reach for the sky in this year’s awards

Croydon businesses are being urged to get their entries in for the borough’s biggest awards programme – before it’s too late.

This Friday, May 6, is the closing date for the 2016 Croydon Business Excellence Awards in association with Gatwick Airport, a celebration of the business success stories and entrepreneurial spirit which is helping to transform Croydon’s fortunes.

As well as celebrating the best business achievements, this year’s event will boost local charities by raising funds for the Mayor of Croydon’s chosen charities.
More than 300 people attended last year’s inaugural gala dinner and charity ball and organisers White Label Creative say this year’s ceremony, taking place on October 6, will be the party of the year.

Alison Addy, head of community engagement for Gatwick Airport, said: “As a major economic driver for the south east, Gatwick enjoys strong business links with Croydon and is pleased to be associated with this year’s Croydon Business Excellence Awards.

“The awards are a great opportunity to celebrate success and recognise business excellence across Croydon.”

Categories to enter are: commitment to the community, best business for customer service, best new business, entrepreneur of the year, best business for food and hospitality, independent retailer of the year, apprentice employer of the year, best SME, best business for training and development, best charity or social enterprise, best green business, best business for marketing and social media, tech innovation of the year, best creative and media sector business.

There will also be an overall business of the year. Last year’s winner was RISEgallery, an art gallery founded by Kevin Zuchowski-Morrison who said: “To have the support of the business community and the people who live and work in Croydon is more special than anything. The Croydon Business Excellence Awards are amazing.”

As well as Gatwick Airport, the awards partners for 2016 are Allianz Global Assistance, Croydon Advertiser, Croydon Council, Wing Yip, Croydon Business Venture, Sussex Innovation Centre, Croydon Partnership, Platinum business magazine and Croydon Chamber of Commerce.
