24 Apr Search for Croydon’s next Women in Business award winner
Croydon’s first Women in Business award winner wants the borough’s many ambitious female entrepreneurs to grasp a “great opportunity” and enter the 2018 programme.
Yuliana Topazly – below right with Joanne Mackie of category sponsor Superdrug – won the inaugural Croydon Business Excellence Awards Women in Business title, sponsored by Superdrug, in 2017. The founder of My Outspace, which provides employability advice, training and business support tailored to the needs of parents and female entrepreneurs, beat stiff competition to take the award.
Now, after a spectacular year which has seen her business grow, Yuliana wants to encourage more women to follow in her footsteps.
“Winning the ‘Women In Business’ category of the Croydon Business Excellence Awards meant a lot to me and is dedicated to all lovely women I have had the pleasure of working with,” said Yuliana.
“I would highly recommend entering the 2018 award, as it is great opportunity to showcase and celebrate the work your business does, as well as to expand your networks and gain excellent PR opportunities.”
Seventeen businesswomen entered the first Women in Business category in 2017. After two rounds of stringent judging, involving 30 minute interviews for the shortlisted entrants, Yuliana of My OutSpace took the top prize, followed by Amie McGrenaghan of J’Amie’s Gymnastics Academy, who was highly commended, and Sherrelle Collman of Caridon Landlord Solutions, being commended.
Yuliana has seen her own business grow and develop substantially since her award win. She commented: “For the last five years I have dedicated my life to helping other women, especially those with younger children to become financially sustainable. It is very rewarding to see those succeeding coming back and supporting others through our work and it is great to know that our work is appreciated and rewarded.
“Since winning the Women in Business award, My OutSpace has developed a lot and we are now introducing new services to corporates, which allow them to support their employees, especially those who may have caring responsibilities offering well-being services and learning opportunities with www.buddywith.org.uk “
