Shortlist Announced – Record Entry for 2019!

Croydon companies are celebrating making the 2019 shortlist of the borough’s premier business awards.

A record number of entries were received for this year’s 5th annual Croydon Business Excellence Awards in association with Willmott Dixon, with 111 being shortlisted across 14 categories.

Last year’s winners celebrate – who will join them in 2019?

Praising the high quality of submissions, independent adjudicator and business consultant Jerry Irving said the challenge of judging them had been a “pleasure.”

He added: “2019 has seen more entries than ever and the overall standard was excellent. Deciding who should go through to the next round was very tough as several categories were hotly contested, including SME Excellence, Women in Business, Customer Service and Digital, Data and Technology.”

Jerry, who has been an independent enterprise growth consultant since 2001, was delighted to see so many entries for the Best Charity or Social Enterprise, and the Commitment to the Community categories. He said this demonstrated how the Awards are keen to recognise the vital contribution these organisations make to the welfare of Croydon’s diverse communities.

He commented: “This year’s Awards have attracted entries from all sectors and of all sizes; from sole traders to nationally recognised corporates. I believe this is a true reflection of the passion of the Croydon business sector to be involved in the borough’s regeneration and economic development success alongside their desire to be recognised for their contributions.”

The free and easy-to enter categories included the new Apprentice Employer of the Year award; a Night Time Economy award for dining, leisure and entertainment businesses; the Enterprising Young Person of the Year award for ambitious18 to 25 year olds; and the Best Business for Digital, Data and Technology.

The winners of the prestigious awards programme, which celebrates the successes and achievements of the borough’s booming business community, will be exclusively announced at the black-tie Gala Dinner and Charity Ball, hosted by popular TV presenter Dan Lobb, at the Grand Sapphire Hotel on Thursday, 3rd October 2019.

*The Croydon Business Excellence Awards 2019 are sponsored by Willmott Dixon, London Borough of Croydon, Bluebird Care Croydon, Croydon College, Little Fish, Queen’s Square, Regent Land, and Sussex Innovation Croydon.
